Albert Buford's Obituary
Albert Buford 74, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Sedalia, MO passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at University of Missouri Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Alexander-May Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 12-1 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
Abdullah Shakur aka Albert Buford was born March 27th, 1946 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the 8th of 10 children born from the union of Theodore Buford Sr. And Genevieve Brown. He attended school at D. A. Holmes and Booker T. Washington in Kansas City, Missouri. At the age of 13 he dropped out of school to help his father with the family restaurant that was started in the early 60's in Boonville, Missouri called the Hacienda. A few years later the family migrated to the cities of Sedalia and Columbia opening Ted's Cafe along the way. In the late 70's big Al decided to roll the dice and set out on his own. He joined forces with the likes of Tate Baker, Yancey Bolton, Pie Johnson, Cye Cason and Monk murphy and set up shop in cities like Minneapolis/St.Paul and Phoenix, AZ with the dreams of becoming millionaires. Buford returned to Missouri in the late 90's to be with family. He and Lena met in 2005 and for the next 15 years they lived out the final chapter of his life together.
Throughout his life Buford's hobbies included caring for family, games of chance including backgammon and shooting craps and listening to tapes of Dick Gregory and Minister Louis Farakhan.

He leaves to cherish his memory his common law wife Lena Cheatum of Columbia, MO, his children Takaira Jordan, Albert Stapelton and Albert Bagby, his step-children Treyon Jordan, Alshawn Bagby, Kayana Cheatum, Damerian Cheatum, Monique "Big Nic" Thomas, and LaDame Smith, his siblings Lotus Goodlow, Charles Buford and Michael Buford, his grandchildren Lauren, Rodney, DeJuan, Kandice, Rothanion. Aaliya, Albert Jr., Candice, Xavier, Tristen, Meagan, and Nina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings LaRose Buford, Carol Bell, Cleo McCormick, Richard Buford, Theodore Buford, and James Buford, and one grandchild Sharae Bradford
