Richard Walter Ward III, 20, of Columbia, slept into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 7 PM at H.T. May Read Obituary
Richard went to high school with me at Saint Ignatius. I first met him in band class where we both sat next to each other playing saxophone. I met him when he was a sophomore and I was a freshman and to this day I still do not think I have met a more genuine person. Richard was a great friend and a role model. I looked up to Richard when things were slow. He always had a smile on his face. Happy birthday Richard I miss you.
I met Richard at a party and when he told me he was in college I didn't believe him because he looked so young. But ever time I've seen him after that he always had a smile on his face it's hard to imagine him with a straight face honestly. God Rest his soul. I will keep this angel's family in my prayers.

We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of your beloved son. Richard was such a sweet, kind soul with an engaging and warm smile. He and our son Alex were close friends at high school and we fondly remember them playing soccer with each other as little boys. Richard’s presence will be missed by the many lives he touched.
