May my friend from back in the day rest in peace. He was a kind spirited person who always made people laugh. He will be missed, but he is with God now..
Cousin Betty Jean and Family, my heart is full and words can not begin to express the sorrow I feel relative to the loss of Donald, affectionately known as “Cabbage.” I am so pleased I was able to see and hug him this past summer during the “Harris Family
Reunion.” He was such a significant part of my loving and joyful childhood memories. Cabbage will never be forgotten! May God comfort and protect you & all of his loved ones and friends during this tremendous loss and difficult time. Donald was such an influential cousin and friend to many! With loving prayers, Eddie & Russana (Jackmon) Rowles & Family, Los Angeles, California. March 12, 2011
Cousin Betty Jean and family,
My heart is truly heavy knowing one of my favorite cousins has left this world. Having not been around him most of my adult life, it was so good to see hm when I visited Mom in Fayette. I will miss his jokes, his teasing, his voice and his laughter. It lightens my sorrow, however, to know he is not experiencing any more pain.
Rest in Peace my wonderful cousin Cabbage.
Nat.
To the family of Donald Gene (Cabbage) Harris
I am so sorry for your loss. Cabbage is what I called him. I will always think of him as one of my nephews. Every time I saw him he would smile that Cabbage smile and say ” Hi Auntie Faye”, followed by a sincere caring hug and kiss. I will miss that. But when I see him in the New World I will greet him with a hug and a kiss. Jehovah God does not put more on us than we can bear. Sometimes I wonder if he has the right address but then it all works out. You will soon realize that you too can bear this. In the mean time Jehovah will take care of you.
Take care

To the Harris Family,
We were sorry to hear about the passing of Cabbage. Cabbage brought great joy to my (Bell) family. We remember when my grandma was living, she just loved him. They were really good together. Our mom and dad really enjoyed when he came down to visit too. He will be missed by my family .
Stay close to the Lord in your time of grief.
Dear Ms Betty Jean, Tammy and Family,
We are really hurt to hear of “Cabbages passing. We were just talking happy thought of him a few weeks ago. Mostly of how he liked to ride our little boys around in his old 1940’s gansta looking car he names “Bogart”.
We know only too well his battle and know his courage and faith helped him to crossover with perfect peace.
May the Power of Love be with you all.
My condolences to the family of a child hood friend “Donald Gene” we always called him. We had some good times growing up down in the “East Bottom”. That voice & personality will be missed.
Rest my friend.
So sorry to hear of Cabbage passing, he loved his children and tried to be the best father possible to them. Now he will be an angel and forever watch over them.
